Kedarkantha Trek is an adventures trekking destination which is located in the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Kedar Kedarkantha Trek leads you towards the vast mountains and the trekking journey starts with Dehradun through which you will see the small and very narrow village on the way. Snow in this valley falls in the winter, during this time the mountains surrounded by snow looks very beautiful. Kedarkantha trek is located at an altitude of 3800 meters. This amazing trek offers trekkers a great experience.

On the way of Kedarkantha, you will cross the temple of Duryodhana which is located in Saur Village, on Har-Ki-Dun road about 12km from a place called Netwar. Who does not know about the Mahabharata’s story and everyone knows little or complete information about its characters. There were two characters in the story of Mahabharata, which are considered to be condemnable Karna and Duryodhana, but very few people know that they are worshiped even after being villains of war. In Uttarakhand, also called Devbhumi, people also worship Duryodhana and Karan villains of Mahabharata war.

Day 1: Dehradun / Haridwar to Sankri (200 KM /245 KM Drive)

Our TrekNTales team will pick you from your reaching point from where we will move to our first destination Sankri. This village is around 200 km from Dehradun and 245 km from Haridwar which will take around 8 to 9 hours to reach here. First of all, we will reach Damata. This place comes under Uttarkashi district. We will stay here for 20 minutes and after having light breakfast we will move ahead. After crossing Baranigad, Naogaon, etc. we will reach Purola. is the largest city after Dehradun on the Dehradun - Sankari way. Perhaps this city is bigger then Uttarkashi. It is also known as the main gate of Har-Ki-Dun and it is situated at an elevation of 1584 meters above sea level. If you have extra time, you should also spend one day in this city on the banks of the River Tons. But we will not stay here. We will move forward from here to our first stop. The distance of the sacral distance from Parola is 55 km. Moving forward from Purola, the atmosphere becomes adorable. Now you will face the dense forest of pine. After completing a nearly 9-hour tireless mountainous journey, we will reach Samkari in the evening. Sankari is a very beautiful place. This place, situated between the mountains far away from modern civilization, will be the first stop for our Har-Ki-Dun tour. Here you will relax at the place arranged by our TrekNTales team.

Day 2: Sankri To Juda-ka-Talab (05 km Trek)

The next day we will wake up early in the morning and go out for trekking. From the Sankari village, we will go to the Juda-Ka-Talab, for which we have to trek five kilometers. For the night we will put our camps near the pond. There is also a campsite for TTH in the pond where there is a proper arrangement for camping. Here snow falls on most of the time of the year. Around the pond, the forest of large and dense pine trees looks very beautiful. Around 2700 feet above sea level, the scenic views of the Himalaya Mountains are quite charming around this pond. This is a very good camp-side for trekkers traveling to Kedarkantha. The motorway is only up to the village and it takes about four hours to reach this pond. The best time to visit Juda ka Talab is all round the year, except the monsoon season. One can expect a good amount of snow up until mid-April. The region is covered in lush greenery during the summer. In winter, the pond gets accumulated from the snow. According to the prevailing stories in Hindu religion, once Lord Shiva opened his hair and dropped water from his hair, formed this lake. Juda is a Hindi language word which means "locked hair" and that's why this laked is known as Juda-Ka-Talab.

Day 3: Juda-ka-Talab to Kedarkantha Base (04 Km Trek)

After resting camp near the Juda-Ka-Talab for a night, we will leave for our next destination Kedarkantha. The distance from the Juda-Ka-Talab to Kedarkantha is about four kilometers. Due to being a difficult route, it will take about four to five hours for us to cross it. This path is very steep climbing and difficult. This trekking route remains snowy throughout the year. That is why travelers are suggested that they should bring winter clothes with them. The Kedarkantha Peak and Singur range can be easily seen from Kedarkantha base camp. The white snow cover spread all around seems very mesmerizing. This summit is one of the finest summits climbs for beginners where they will enjoy a lot. The feeling on top of a summit is indescribable. There is a sense of achievement, the feeling you have earned this view. The kind of internal confidence you gain after an adventurous summit climb is difficult to shake. This packed along with a thrilling summit climb makes it a wonderful trek for beginners, families, and children.  The better prepared you are, the more you will enjoy this trek. If you want to go here you can go and enjoy the beautiful natural views nearby. Walking through the gorgeous pine and oak forests and the crystal clear streams where you can fill up your water bottles makes the descent interesting. The clear summer streams remain completely frozen during winters. It’s a sight worth watching. The glorious Har ki Dun valley can be seen from the ridge. TreakNTales team will arrange the best place and meals for you for night stay here.
