Overview

With the verdant beauty of the insurmountable snow-capped mountains in the backdrop, the green meadows and the white clouds blend to make the dreamlike valley of flowers trek. Perched at an altitude of 14,400 feet (4.39 km).

Though difficulty level of Valley of Flowers trek is of medium to a moderate level Valley of Flowers is located in Chamoli district in the state of Uttarakhand India 300 Kms North of Rishikesh, near Badrinath.

The trek to Valley of Flowers starts from Govindghat 20 km before Badrinath. Step into the bed of flowers while you head out for this beautiful trek, serene nature, splendid weather Valley of flowers amazes each one of us with the nuances it offers every minute.

It is said in the Ramayana that the Hindu mythology that Hanuman got the SanjeevaniButi (plant) to heal Lakshman, brother of Shri Ram. Ram was battling Ravana in far-off Sri Lanka in order to rescue his wife, Sita, from the Sri Lanka king, his brother Lakshman was seriously wounded. Ram requested Sushena the physician to help save Lakshman, and told Hanuman, to go to the supreme of all the mountains, the Himalayas, and bring him the mritsanjeevani (life-giving medicine) plant to revive Lakshman.

Sushena told Hanuman that the plant grows in the Himalayan range and radiates a strange light, and gleaming in the dark. Hanuman left immediately but on arrival to the mountains, Hanuman was confused. Finally, Hanuman thought, rather than delaying it any further, this powerful PavanSut (Son of the wind) handpicked the mountain thus Lakshman was saved It is said that the guru Shukracharya is said to use it to revive demos or the asuras who had been slain by the demigods or the Devatas.

Day 1: Getting to base camp, Govind Ghat

Pick up from Haridwar Railway station/ Dehradun Airport at early Morning. Since the drive of the first day will be of approx 10 to 11 hours, hence one need to take arrival between 6 am to 7 am Morning. Pickup arranged by Trek n Tales team followed by a scenic drive along river Alaknanda on the Badrinath highway via Devprayag witnessing the holy confluence of river Bhagirathi and Alaknanda river forming holy river Ganges for Joshimath. Joshimath is a pilgrim station for the Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib. Arrive at Joshimath, you can stay here or proceed to Govindghat the base camp as per accommodation arranged by Trek N tales team. One can hire a porter or mule at Govind Ghat.

Day 2: Govind Ghat to Ghangria via Poolna

Trek level: Easy to moderate. Natural ascent and a well- defined trail. Recently the government has made the motorable road to Poolna which is of 4 Km. This will reduce the distance of trekking by 9 km which was earlier 13 km. This beautiful trail is well defined with a mostly Sikh pilgrim crowd mainly visiting Hemkund Sahib. The Sikh volunteers keep this trail clean by swiping as a religious ritual with obeisance as a daily routine. The trek starts from Poolna to Ghangaria which is of 9 Km along with river adjacent which is a beautiful beginning of the trek. One can stop by on roadside Dhaba for a quick bite and delicious masala tea.

This trek is mix with sunny and shade and after the midpoint, you will cross the river and will start trekking on another side of river bank gradually leaving the river behind and gradually reaching to the tabular land which denotes the arrival of Ghangaria. Ghangria has a helipad and a base station for the traveler who is taking a helicopter for Valley of flowers. One who takes a helicopter has to trek further 3.7 Km from here to Valley of Flowers. Ghangaria one-street village which is half a kilometer from helipad is lined with many hotels, restaurants. Check in to the hotel engraved by Trek n tales team, rest in the hotel followed by dinner.

Day 3: Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers and return on the same day

Trek level: Easy, almost flat walk into the valley. Start early after a quick breakfast (6.00 am) so that one can have ample time to spend at Valley of Flowers. After in less than a kilometer Trek n Tales team will arrange to buy entry tickets to the valley. ( There is a separate entry fee for Indians/overseas traveler ) . The gradually well-defined trail will become narrow footway along the side of the valley. One can witness stream flows below and you can have glimpses of hard snow patches by the side. The shades of trek start changing dramatically from the previous day with fewer people around.

Day 4: Ghangaria to Govind Ghat via Poolna

Trek level: Easy descent till Poolna, followed by Drive of 4 Km till Govind ghat After breakfast reach to Govind Ghat, check in to hotel engraved by Trek N Tales team

Day 5: Govind Ghat to Haridwar/Dehradun

Drive down to Haridwar or Dehradun Airport.

  • 75% of full tour cost - between 14 & 7 days prior to tour.
  • 100% of full tour cost - within 7 days prior to tour.
