Kakbhushundi Lake (16800 feet), located in the northeast of Hathi Hill Mountain (22140 feet) near Joshimath in district Chamoli, is a picturesque holy natural spot. It is believed that even today, the tale of Kakbhusudini’s story is heard around this mysterious lake and it feels that Garuda is listening to the story in meditation posture. Close to this beautiful lake, the rock statues of Kakbhushundi and Garuda are situated. It is also believed that in the end time, the crows come to the lake by before leaving their body. Even today, the feathers of crows can be seen around this lake. But no one confirmed this story or saw any crow dying here. This Kakbhushundi lake and the surrounding place at the height can be called a mystical mythological place. The perimeter of this lake is more than 1.5 km and the length is slightly higher. This lake is situated in a remote location with panoramic views of high Himalayan peaks. Nar-Narayana, Chaukhamba, Neelkanth, and Hathi Parvat (peaks) are clearly visible from this Tal. To reach this lake you can go through two routes, first is via Painka village Vishnu Prayag and the second one is from the Bhyundar village Govind Ghat.
